SPUMC is again partnering with Sunshine Place in purchasing 130 Christmas gifts
(up from 125 last year) for children from underprivileged families. The value of each gift is to be between $40-50. We will have a tag on the tree for each child and on each tag will be the child’s age, gender, gift wish and a number. The tags will be available on the Christmas tree in the Narthex starting Sunday, November 17. You may choose a tag (or 2 or 3) and then you MUST sign it out with the volunteers at the table next to the tree. All gifts are due back by Sunday, December 8. When you return the gift, you MUST again record it with the volunteers at the table next to the tree. Each returned gift must be in a bag with the child’s tag securely attached. Do not wrap the gift, but including wrapping paper and a bow is appreciated.
New this year is the availability of a “personal shopper” for those who wish to participate but are unable to shop themselves. Pastor Claire and the youth will do the shopping for you! You may choose a tag or have someone choose a tag for you. You may give cash or check (made payable to SPUMC with Spirit of Giving written on the memo line) along with the child’s tag, to Chris in the church office or give to the volunteers at the table. If you MAIL your check and tag to the church, please make sure it arrives by December 6. Thank you for your generosity. We are truly an amazing church.
The annual Food Pantry Concert featuring local church and other choirs will take place on Friday, December 6th at 7pm at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
In the spirit of gift giving to those in need, the SPUMC St. Nicholas Fund is used to assist members and friends of our congregation this Christmas and throughout the year at the discretion of Pastor Jenny and staff. Please mark your gift ‘St. Nicholas Fund.’
Enjoy daily devotions through the season of Advent written by people within our church. A daily devotion can center your day and it is always meaningful to read encouraging words written by those in our faith community. You may pick up a book at church or read it online through our church website.
Faithful: Christmas Through the Eyes of Joseph
This Advent study by Adam Hamilton, will focus on Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. Joseph’s place in the Nativity story is sometimes overlooked, but his life contains valuable lessons for all of us. The study will look at Joseph’s life and his role in the birth and life of Jesus.
Join us on Wednesdays from noon to 1 pm in the Chapel: December 4, 11 and 18, or on Sundays from 9:45-10:30 am in the Conference Room: December 1, 8, 15, and 22. The Friday Grace Cafe and Saturday Men’s Group will also be sharing in this Advent study.
Help others have sweet dreams this Advent season. We will be donating bedding sets to the Bed Lady here in Sun Prairie for children and youth of all ages. This year we will be collecting monetary donations only that will go toward these sets. Please drop donations at the display in the Narthex or make a donation in the church office marking your check “Bed Lady Advent Collection”.

Through songs, skits, and stories, our young talents will explore how embracing diverse ideas and perspectives can create something magical and special. Come and see how working together, despite our differences, brings out the true spirit of Christmas—a time of unity, love, and joy.
Journey with Mary and Joseph to the stable in Bethlehem and witness the miracle of the first Christmas on Saturday, December 7th from 5:30-7pm. For many, Christmas is a bittersweet time of the year. For some their hearts are breaking over the loss of a loved one, for some they are battling physical or mental health issues, for some they are facing difficult family situations. If you struggle to find joy in this season, we offer our Longest Night Service. Through music and scripture, prayer and communion, along with the lighting of candles, we hope to help you break the darkness finding the light that Jesus Christ offers. Our Longest Night Service will be held on Sunday, December 22 at 7:00. You are welcome to join us either in person or virtually online.
