Outreach is focused on reaching out into our community and world. We support numerous projects within Sun Prairie and the world. Below is a list of organizations that we support.

We would love to hear your ideas and your interests for our Outreach team. We invite you to become involved with us. To contact the outreach team please connect with our church office.

Felicia’s Closet-

Felicia’s Donation Closet is a nonprofit organization serving women and children survivors of domestic abuse, by providing furniture and household items for them once they have found housing. The organization serves all of Dane County and partners with several organizations to help struggling women as they are on a path to a new and hopeful future. For the month of October SPUMC will be collecting household items that will be used to set up a new home as women work towards independence. The items we will be collecting can be found here, as well as a list and other information at the Outreach Committee display table in the Narthex. Please stop by. For more information and to learn other ways to be involved, visit Felicia’s Closet website at feliciasdonationcloset.com.

Sunshine Supper-

Sunshine Supper is a FREE community meal offered to anyone on Monday evenings.  Sun Prairie United Methodist Church provides a meal quarterly – once in January, April, July and October. We ask for donations of certain foods, beverages and desserts and people to help serve the meal. We also ask for monetary donations to purchase food to serve. Watch the website, social media and announcements during worship to donate food items or money to purchase food items or to sign up to help. Families can volunteer together – kids 11 -16 can volunteer with an adult.

Ingathering Donations –

Each year we collect items that are taken to our Wisconsin Annual Conference in June. Please watch for more information in late spring for how and what to donate.

Sun Prairie Food Pantry–

Throughout the year, our church conducts regular food drives for both the Sun Prairie Emergency Food Pantry and the Northside Elementary School.  Both groups provide needed food supplies for the Sun Prairie community, so children and families have adequate food for meals.

Donations to Help Our Community–

The SPUMC activity encourages our members to help support local, national and international organizations that provide needed services for a variety of causes.  Some of the donations in the past have been for Mexican immigrants, Afghan refugees, Colonial Club Senior Center for programs, Habitat for Humanity, and many other groups serving people in a variety of ways.

Stuff the Bus

Stuff the Bus is a volunteer group that distributes backpacks filled with school supplies to kids in the Sun Prairie School District who’s families request help. This year, we will be delivering 1500 backpacks to Sun Prairie youth and children. Sunshine Place can get the supplies at a reduced rate, so this year again, they are asking for donations to cover the costs of the supplies. It costs $25 for a backpack filled with the appropriate school supplies, but you can donate any amount you would like. To help, you can donate using the envelopes and put your donation in the Stuff the Bus Box on the  table in the narthex anytime before August 1st.  Or you may mail your check to the church, made out to SPUMC with “Stuff the Bus” in the memo line. Or you may use this link.   Thank you for helping Sun Prairie kids in need!

Spirit of Giving

Many people in the SP area struggle to make ends meet and purchase Christmas gifts for their children.  Every year, SPUMC has a  Spirit of Giving Tree with tags hanging on it to purchase a child a gift. Watch for more information in November.

Christmas Eve Outreach Bags-

Every year on Christmas Eve we have bags of snacks and candy for anyone to pick up after worship and take to those who may be working on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to let them know we’re thinking of them.  After Christmas Eve worship, you may pick up a bag, or 2 or 3 and deliver yourself with a warm Christmas greeting!

Northside Elementary School Community Partner-

Our church serves as a community partner with our neighboring school Northside Elementary. Throughout the year we partner through providing donations of items need or volunteering to help with school projects.
