A Word from Pastor Jenny

“Be still and know that I am God!”  –Psalm 46:10

The second week of General Conference is spent in plenary sessions, debating and voting on petitions that have been passed along from last week’s legislative committees.

Faithful and hopeful change for our denomination is happening steadily as the long days of holy conferencing go on.  In the first two days of this week, some highlights include voting to have The UMC enter into a Full Communion relationship with The Episcopal Church in the United States.  This is a partnership that has been worked on for many years.

Several petitions were passed that revised the Social Principles and the language that bans LGBTQ persons from being ordained as United Methodist clergy was removed.

In the days ahead, we will be debating and voting on the removal of the harmful language in the Book of Discipline toward LGBTQ persons.  We also have a large and complex budget to review, debate and vote upon.

The days have been long, but the Holy Spirit is definitely moving at General Conference and good things are happening for The United Methodist Church!  Thank you for your continued prayers.

Blessings,

Jenny
