Scholarships

2020 High School Seniors and current college students,

Congratulations on your continuing studies to further your education.  We, at SPUMC, would like to help you with this worthwhile endeavor.  Sun Prairie UMC is blessed with many generous members who care about young people and their education and have offered scholarships to people furthering their education.

There are a couple of things you should know about the process.

  1.  If filling out your online application, click here . If you would prefer a paper application, the scholarship form can be downloaded directly here.  Application
  2. You will need to download and give the Reference Page to three adults. References must include l. a member of this church 2. A family friend 3. A teacher, college professor or someone you have worked with.  Please make sure that you have three references.  If someone falls into multiple categories, you still must include 1 reference from each category. The Reference form is here:  References
  3. Send in a picture of yourself with your paper application or upload a picture into the online application form.
  4. Worship attendance will be a factor in determining eligibility for all scholarships.  For college students, worship attendance at SPUMC while home on breaks or church you attend while at school will be considered.

If you are unclear which scholarship to apply for, you can find descriptions on our website.  Simply click on the name of the scholarship and a brief description will pop up.

Please use the checklist to make sure ALL of your items are in.  Checklist

All applications are due to the SPUMC office by Monday April 6, 2020.  Please check to make sure that all your references have been returned by the due date, as we will not process incomplete or late applications.

We will be giving out the scholarships on Senior Saturday night, May 30th at the 5:00 pm service.  Please plan to be there to accept your scholarship.  It means so much to the congregation to be able to congratulate you and often times the scholarship givers are in worship to see who receives their scholarship. If you do not show up to receive your scholarship and do not communicate a valid reason to us, the scholarship will be voided. A thank you note written to the scholarship giver is also expected.

All scholarship recipients will turn into the church office a receipt for expenditures once in the first semester and once in the second semester to receive their scholarship monies. At the end of the school year if the office has not received a receipt, the remaining scholarship monies will be voided.

We look forward to helping you out with your college expenses and look forward to giving many scholarships again this year!

Sincerely,

Terry Twedell, Pastor Jenny Arneson and the Scholarship Committee
