Ways to Put Your Faith Into Action this Week

If you are not already receiving our Monday Devotional Word of the Week or our weekly Thursday email that outlines what is happening in the life of this faith community please reach out to the church office at 837-5554 or office@sunprairieumc.org so we can get you on this email list. Our Word of the Week devotional is now also on our Podcast channel. You can now listen to the Word of the Week as well as read it.

SPUMC is again partnering with Sunshine Place to purchase 130 Christmas gifts for children from underprivileged families. The value of each gift is to be between $40-50. We will have a tag on the tree for each child and on each tag will be the child’s age, gender, gift wish, and a number. The tags will be available on the Christmas tree in the Narthex. You may choose a tag (or 2 or 3) and then you MUST sign it out with the volunteers at the table next to the tree. All gifts are due back by Sunday, December 8. When you return the gift, you MUST again record it with the volunteers at the table next to the tree. Each returned gift must be in a bag with the child’s tag securely attached. Do not wrap the gift, but including wrapping paper and a bow is appreciated. New this year is the availability of a “personal shopper” for those who wish to participate but aren’t able to shop themselves. Pastor Claire and the youth will do the shopping for you! You may choose a tag or have someone choose a tag for you. You may give cash or check (made payable to SPUMC with Spirit of Giving written on the memo line) along with the child’s tag, to Chris in the church office or give to the volunteers at the table. If you MAIL your check and tag to the church, please make sure it arrives by December 6. Thank you for your generosity. We are truly an amazing church.

The annual Food Pantry Concert featuring local church and other choirs will take place on Friday, December 6th at 7pm at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Journey with Mary and Joseph to the stable in Bethlehem and witness the miracle of the first Christmas on Saturday, December 7th from 5:30-7pm. Drive through with a cup of hot chocolate and look at scenes vividly brought to life with live animals and members of the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church.

Faithful:  Christmas Through the Eyes of Joseph

This Advent study by Adam Hamilton, will focus on Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus.  Joseph’s place in the Nativity story is sometimes overlooked, but his life contains valuable lessons for all of us.  The study will look at Joseph’s life and his role in the birth and life of Jesus. Join us on Wednesdays from noon to 1 pm in the Chapel:  December 4, 11 and 18, or on Sundays from 9:45-10:30 am in the Conference Room:  December 1, 8, 15, and 22. The Friday Grace Cafe and Saturday Men’s Group will also be sharing in this Advent study.

Advent Devotionals
Enjoy daily devotions through the season of Advent written by people within our church.  A daily devotion can center your day and it is always meaningful to read encouraging words written by those in our faith community.  You may pick up a book at church or read it online through our church website.

Join us for the Christmas Cantata offered by our Chancel Choir on Sunday, December 15 at our 8:30 am worship service.  The name of the Cantata is The Road to Bethlehem:  A Journey to the Newborn King by Lloyd Larson.

Join us for “Celebrate Creativity: A Unique Christmas Journey,” a delightful children’s Christmas program that highlights the beauty of creative differences on Sunday, December 15 at 10:45am. Through songs, skits, and stories, our young talents will explore how embracing diverse ideas and perspectives can create something magical and special. Come and see how working together, despite our differences, brings out the true spirit of Christmas—a time of unity, love, and joy.

Join us for worship next Sunday at 8:30 or 10:45 either in our church sanctuary or online. Next Sunday we will continue our Advent journeys together as we hear words from the Book of Luke and share in Advent love.

Starting Sunday, December 29th, we will move to ONE WORSHIP SERVICE at 9am. Fellowship time will follow worship. Sunday School for all ages will begin at 10:15am.
