The table was central to the ministry of Jesus.  He broke bread, shared meals and built relationships at tables with all kinds of people.  We too are table people.  During the season of Lent, we will share stories of Jesus at many different tables and explore the tables we sit at with others.

Lenten Study

The Gospels are full of stories of Jesus sharing meals and fellowship at many different kinds of tables.  Anytime Jesus was at a table he imparted wisdom, grace and love.  We will use the book, Meeting Jesus at the Table by Cynthia M. Campbell and Christine Coy Fohr.  We will use this book to look at biblical insights about the time Jesus spent at tables and the times we are at tables and with whom.  Please contact the church office to sign up for one of the studies and get the book ( office@sunprairieumc.org or 608/837-5554).

Holy Week Worship

-Palm Sunday – March 24 – 8:30 & 10:45 am in-person and Livestream

-Maundy Thursday/Tenebrae Service – Join us for Holy Week worship on Thursday, March 28 at 7 pm in person in the sanctuary or on the livestream.  We will come to the table for the sacrament of Communion on this Maundy Thursday and hear the scriptures of Jesus giving his disciples a new commandment of love.  We will witness a live reenactment of the Last Supper.  Then our worship will move into a Tenebrae service of darkness where we will hear the passion story of Jesus and the last words of Jesus from the cross.  We will end our worship in darkness and silence.

-Good Friday Prayer Time- You are invited to come to the church sanctuary on Good Friday, March 29 anytime between noon and 3 pm to spend time in prayer.  This will be an individual time in prayer.  We will have soft music playing, guided prayers and scriptures to read if you choose, an opportunity to light a candle, or simply sit in the stillness of the sanctuary during the time we know Jesus suffered at the end of his earthly life.
