“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called
in the one body. And be thankful.”
Last week, someone told me about a license plate they saw that said, BGR8FL.
Do you see it? BGR8FL…Be Grateful.
Being thankful and grateful is something that we are called to be throughout Scripture. While it seems simple enough to be thankful, gratitude does take intentionality and mindfulness. We must be intentional in order to live gratefully and to show and share gratitude in how we live our lives with our words and actions. So often gratitude also calls to mind God’s steadfast presence with us and that can give us the strength we need to remain hopeful.
Signs and reminders of gratitude can be helpful, like the license plate, BGR8FL. Think of how many people see that license plate each day either driving or when passing by the car while it is parked. Are there certain types of signs that have prompted you to be grateful? Are there signs of gratitude that you have shared for others to see?
At the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, this is our year of Gratitude as we live into our Four Year Ministry Plan of G.R.O.W. (Gratitude – Relationships – Our story – Worship). Gratitude is one of the most important components to meaningful relationships, to our individual and collective stories, and to our worship.
In this week, may our gratitude be a sign that others see and find contagious.
