“To everything there is a season, and a time to every matter under heaven.”
On this New Year’s Eve, we are on the threshold of a fresh set of days. Tomorrow, we begin another 365 days of a new year. Each of those 365 days is a gift from God and each day is special. Within this New Year, there will be “extra special” days such as birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and Easter, which we may mark or circle on our calendars.
As you open your new 2019 calendar and begin filling in the hours of each day, it is a good time to pause and offer thanks to God for the gift of each day. It is also a good time to think about whether at year’s end, are the activities, events and practices filling those spaces showing that we were good stewards of the time with which God gifts us?
As you fill in your calendar, I invite you to think about these questions: Will you make time for God and will that be an unbreakable appointment? Will worship and learning as part of the faith community be a priority? What will we do (or not do) to make our time, talents and resources available for ministry? And, what will we do in our daily lives that will show we are disciples of Jesus Christ?
In the first full week of this New Year and throughout each day of 2019, may you know the gift of God’s presence and hope!
New Year’s Blessings,
