The Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church have called a special General Conference for February 23-26, 2019, in St. Louis, Missouri. The special worldwide gathering will be limited to acting on plans put forward by the Commission on a Way
Forward. The Commission was charged with finding ways for the denomination to stay together despite deep differences around homosexuality.
The Wisconsin Delegation to the specially called General Conference is hosting listening sessions around the state to allow feedback about the proposals. We will host one of the listening sessions at SPUMC on Thursday, October 25th beginning at 7 pm. All are welcome to come and ask questions about each plan and share your thoughts, hopes and concerns for our denomination. The purpose of the listening sessions is for the Delegation to hear from the diversity of membership which makes up Wisconsin United Methodism. The desire is to better understand thinking and feeling within our annual conference about our denomination’s future.
