To Do List
“O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before God our Maker! For God is our God,
and we are the people of God’s pasture, and the sheep of God’s hand. O that today you would listen to God’s voice!
This past weekend in worship, we celebrated the last week in our five-week stewardship focus that has looked at the vows or promises we make when we become part of a United Methodist Faith community. Those promises include sharing our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness to uphold the church as the body of Christ.
How we live as witnesses to our faith matters in each day, but the month of November seems like a wonderful month to be more intentional in our how we share our witness. This is the month in which the commercial push toward Christmas can almost be smothering. As Christian witnesses to our faith, let’s be intentional about using this month to offer gratitude for our many blessings and to remember not to pass by Thanksgiving and the four weeks of Advent preparation before we get to Christmas.
I read something recently that offered several wonderful reminders. I offer them to you as a way of moving through November with a calmer spirit:
Count my blessings
Laugh a lot
Let go of what I can’t control
Just breathe and
May our month of November be filled with gratitude and thanksgiving as we remember that God is our God and we are the people of God!
