Sharing the Easter News
Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, ‘I have seen the Lord;’ and she told them that he had said these things to her.” –John 20:18
Following the wonderful celebration of Easter Day, our call and opportunity is now to share the Easter news in our daily lives. Easter has just begun and we are now in what is called Eastertide or the Great 50 Days of Easter, which lasts until the Day of Pentecost on May 20th.
We share the Easter news and message of God’s love and grace in how we live our lives and with each interaction we have with another person or other people. Our daily interactions with all kinds of people gives us the chance to share goodness and be an example of the love and grace we know because of the Resurrection.
I have a clipping with these words of advice:
“People can be unreasonable, illogical and self-centered…Love them anyway.
If you do good, people may accuse you of ulterior motives…Do good anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow…Do good anyway.
Honesty may make you vulnerable…Be honest anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you may get knocked down…Give the world the best you have anyway.”
In this week and in this Easter season, may we share the goodness of God’s love and grace in such a way that we are announcing the good news of the Resurrection.
