The Mood of Christmas

  Posted on   by   No comments

“When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy.”
–Matthew 2:10

On this eighth day of Christmas and as we enter a New Year, the good news of God’s coming among us as the Christ child and the work of Christmas continues.

I share with you a piece written by Howard Thurman, a theologian, author, educator and civil rights leader, who lived from 1899 to 1981. May we find meaning and truth in his words.

The Mood of Christmas by Howard Thurman:

“When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the last,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among people,
To make music in the heart.”

New Year Blessings,
Jenny
