Doing the Next Thing Well
“I will call to mind the deeds of God; I will remember your wonders of old.
I will meditate on all your works.” –Psalm 77:11-12
The 14th century English mystic, Julian of Norwich is known to have said, “All shall be well and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.”
Julian of Norwich trusted in God’s goodness and the goodness of God inspired her words. We are also encouraged by the Psalmist to call to mind, to remember and to meditate on the deeds and wonders of God.
As we begin the Advent season and the preparing for the coming of the Christ child, we find that this season of preparation usually comes with a long “to-do” list. In the doing, may we call to mind the works of God and remember and be thankful for God’s wonders so we can do the next thing well. When we do, “all shall be well.”
